SJ Distributors has been closely monitoring developments of the COVID-19 pandemic since the outbreak occurred. Our senior management supported by our Crisis Management Team (CMT), which consists of a cross functional group of leaders, including CEO, CFO, HR Team, General Manager, and Warehouse Managers are working together to lead this effort.

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that was first detected in Wuhan, China. It is a disease which spreads by human-to-human transmission and its symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath, etc. Symptoms can appear as little as within two days, or as long as in 14 days, after exposure.

The virus is thought to spread mainly by human-to-human transmission, within 6 feet of distance of two people, through respiratory droplets produced by the infected when he/she coughs, sneezes or talks. These droplets could land in the mouths or noses of the others who are nearby and possibly be inhaled into their lungs. Some recent studies have suggested that COVID-19 may also be spread by infected people without symptoms.

There is no evidence supporting that coronavirus is transmitted via food or food packaging, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Nor is there any indication that people have contracted coronavirus from consuming food, said food-safety expert Benjamin Chapman, a professor at North Carolina State University. Like other viruses, it is possible that the virus that causes COVID-19 can survive on surfaces of objects. Therefore, following good hygiene practices are critical to maintaining your health.

It is highly unlikely that people can contract COVID-19 from food or food packaging. COVID-19 is a respiratory illness and the primary transmission route is through person-to- person contact and through direct contact with respiratory droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Throughout this year, we have continuously evolved our approach to create new processes and guidelines to keep associates and customers safe, with careful consideration to remain aligned with guidance from relevant health authorities, such as the WHO and the CDC. Since the beginning of the Pandemic, our Company had been enforcing the below preventive measures to defend COVID-19:

  1. Provide face masks to our employees and require donning of face masks during the entire working hours.
  2. Provide hand sanitizers for disinfection.
  3. Require strict enforcement of social distancing of 6 feet apart for all employees.
  4. Require all employees to take lunch breaks in their own vehicles.
  5. Take body temperature of every person entering the warehouse every day. Refuse entry to anyone with abnormal body temperature
  6. Require all employees to fill out family health status surveys every day.
